Scandinavian Fiber Arts with Pia and Auli - Summer Day Camp, Week 1


This hands on outdoors day camp program includes learning designing and making textiles from the beginning to a finished product. We work outdoors in groups of 4 kids. We focus on the joy of learning and working together on creative projects.

The summer camps include learning to design and make textiles from beginning to finished product.  Our 2021 camp curriculum includes learning to: 

  • - create fabric designs using Shibori-techniques

    - dye cotton fabric with natural indigo

    - work with sewing machine and hand-sewing tools

    - construct and sew a top from indigo dyed material

    - design a fabric using screen-printing method

    - construct and sew shorts or a skirt from the print fabric

    - dye wool with California native plants and traditional natural dyes

    - create textile art from dyed wool using rya knotting technique

    - learn about materials and appreciate sustainable ways of using textiles.

Place: Auli’s Studio, 678 Northern Avenue, Mill Valley

Time: July 26th-July 30th, 10am-2pm daily

Group size: 8 kids.
