Weaving for beginners 2 x 3h

The workshop continues Sat, Jan 25, at 1-4pm

This creative, fun and easy beginners’ weaving class consists of two 3-hour sessions with an option of including a 3-hour natural dyeing workshop for creating colorful wool for your weaving project using local plants and traditional natural dyes. The dyeing workshop takes place on Sat Jan 11 at 1-4 pm.

The workshop is perfect for those who want to learn about the classic art of weaving. We are using an Ashford heddle loom which folds into a portable size that you can take home with you between sessions to continue your project at home.

The class is designed to give you the basic skills and confidence to create your own designs and work on creative projects. During the two 3-hour workshops you will learn to warp the loom, the process of weaving and how to start and end the project.

We will start weaving with wool because it is the easiest material to work with. The loom is also great for a variety of other materials and projects. You can purchase wool weaving materials at the studio or you can bring your own weaving materials. I have scheduled a 3-hour workshop one week before each weaving class begins so that you can learn to dye your own wool yarn for your project. Please, sign up for that separately if you want to join.

The price for the weaving workshops including the rent of a loom is $260.

The class size is 3-6.
